Michael Waterhouse, author of Family, Faith and Fortune in Victorian Sydney - The Edina Estate, explores the history of this landmark home between 1859 and its transfer to the Methodist Church in 1922.
‘Edina’ was home to three generations of a wealthy, religious family with a unique lifestyle. Professor E G (Gowrie) Waterhouse of ‘Eryldene’, Michael’s great uncle, was one of 24 children who grew up on the estate and he encountered his first camellias there.
As a family member, Michael tells stories of the people who lived at Edina, and this sense of personal connection brings the tours to life. It’s about the people as…
