About the event
Walk the history of the only Sydney beachside suburb with a direct rail link - Cronulla - strolling from what was Curranulla (or Kurranulla) St to the 1930s mission-style house 'San Leonardo'.
Along the way, admire the Post Office, the old Commonwealth Bank, the Cronulla Lifesaving Club and other beautiful art deco buildings and learn about the long-lost Mrs Giddings' Store.
After the walk, extend the day with a ferry ride to Bundeena on the adorable Curranulla, powering across Port Hacking since 1939 and thus the longest operating ferry in Australia (additional cost).
Or stay in Cronulla and explore Bass and Flinders Point, where the memorial commemorates explorers George Bass, Matthew Flinders and the boy William Martin who was Flinders' servant.
Matthew Flinders and George Bass explored and mapped the coastline and Port Hacking estuary in 1796 and the southernmost point is named in their honour.
