Centennial Park, 1 Grand Dr, Centennial Park NSW 2021, Australia

About the event

Centennial Park has had an interesting and complex social history since its inception in 1888. As the 19th century Industrial age developed, governments became aware of the need for open public spaces for the moral and physical well being of the working classes.

From the villas on the periphery to the swamps at its heart, there are stories of changing social attitudes to leisure and the ferocious battles to save the park from destruction. The walk covers approximately 5km and a reasonable level of fitness is required. Please wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. Morning tea is included.
